Meeting with Neringa municipality, Lithuania

On the 22nd of August, Jörgen Held, Pre-BASIC Biogas coordinator, Dr. Andrius Tamosiunas, Deputy Director Lithuanian Energy Institute and Dr. Nerijus Striugas, Head of Combustion Laboratory, Lithuanian Energy Institute visited Ms. Vilma Kavaliova, Chief Specialist, Business and Strategic Development Division  with colleagues, Neringa Municipal Administration.

Neringa Municipality is located on the Curonian Spit, which is included in the UNESCO world heritage list. Algae blooming as a consequence of eutrophication is a big problem and has a negative impact on the tourism to the Lithuanian “riviera” as well as for the quality of life for the locals.

Neringa Municipality has expressed an interest to be associated partner in BASIC Biogas. The final decision is expected at the end of September.
